UGI and Old Mutual Redefine Insurance with Auto360 Launch

United General Insurance Limited (UGI), in partnership with Old Mutual Life Assurance Company, on Thursday night launched Auto360, a new product that combines motor insurance and life insurance benefits into one comprehensive package—an innovation expected to reshape Malawi’s insurance landscape.

Speaking during the launch in Blantyre, UGI Chief Executive Officer Grant Mwenechanya said the product addresses a long-standing gap in the insurance industry.

“Traditionally, general insurance companies have insured vehicles while life insurers focused on personal protection, but Auto360 merges the two,” he said.

Old Mutual Life Assurance Company Managing Director, Mark Mikwamba described the product as a “truly innovative” solution designed to meet the evolving needs of customers.

Reserve Bank of Malawi, Director of Pension and Insurance Supervision Kaluso Chihana commended the collaboration, calling it an important step forward for the sector. He said such products add real value for Malawians and have the potential to boost insurance penetration in the country.
